It's cold in here...maybe not...
So the past couple of weeks my apartment has started 3 fires in the kitchen. Today's actually set off the fire alarm. I was in the shower and I could smell something burning. I figured it was just someone cooking in the kitchen and something was on the burner. Then the fire alarm goes off. And I'm thinking Holy Cow, I am in the shower with shampoo in my hair and the fire alarm is going off! But the alarm stopped and I couldn't smell anything more so I finished my shower. When I got out my roommate Britt is standing in the kitchen by the stove and there is shattered glass all over the stove top.
Britt accidentally turned on the wrong burner and the burner that had a cake in a glass pan sitting on it got hot. The cake caught on fire and the pan shattered. I guess it was quite an adventure! Here is the burnt cake...
Don't worry nothing was permanently ruined and the kitchen just smelled of smoke for a while.
We laugh about it now... We were just trying to keep the apartment warm in this negative degree weather!

Olive Garden and Good Friends
Last night was our ward Christmas/Closing Social. We had it catered by Olive Garden...yes you read that right! Oh my gosh it was AMAZING!!! Olive Garden is my most favorite place to eat, so I was pretty psyched! There were breadsticks, salad, and all types of pastas! Then to top it off there was CHEESECAKE for dessert! Oh man...I was literally in heaven! It was delicious.
Not only was there yummy food but there was great company! I love my ward and the friends that I have made. There was a lot of laughing but it made me sad that some of my friends are moving and graduating. I'll miss them. But hopefully they won't be too far away!
Casidy, Britt, Marisa, Kali, and I before we left
This is my favorite picture from the whole night!
Marisa, Britton, Me, and Kimberly.
I love the four of us! And Kali took this picture right after our big group hug!
I have been so blessed to have met so many amazing people here at BYU-I. So many have changed my life and taught me so many things. I will never forget the friendships I have made. And I am so grateful that the Lord has placed these people in my life!

It's Definitely Winter in Rexburg!
Today the high was 16 degrees. Yes, that's right. The low was ZERO!!! But I'm pretty sure when I left my apartment this morning at 7:30 it was below zero. At least there wasn't much wind because that will subtract maybe 10-15 degrees off the temp. My nose hairs froze on the way to class. Sorry if that's too much info but I'm just telling you like it is. It is really a very interesting experience when that happens...I can't even explain the sensation. And it's even more interesting when you have a cold...
Yesterday was just as cold, maybe colder. I went to the Temple and by the time I got there I couldn't feel my legs. It was nice to walk into the font filled with nice warm water! And I made sure that I thoroughly blow dried my hair afterward before walking home so I wouldn't have icicle hair.
No matter what I do I can't seem to get warm! How did the pioneers do it? I'd have died. Pretty sure.
Anyways...winter is definitely here!

Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday! I don't know if it's the turkey and mashed potatoes, being with my family in the little old school house, or the sales after. But I hate it when people just skip right over Thanksgiving and move into Christmas. In fact it drives my crazy that radios are already playing Christmas songs and people have put up their trees. I think sometimes that we live in a world of instant gratification. We can get what we want in an instant and we don't sit back and look at what we already have or who made it possible for us to receive these blessings. Of all the Holidays Thanksgiving shouldn't be one that we are skipping over. Each one of us has so many things to be grateful for! Even during the rough times there are little and simple things we can be thankful for. I hope that this week we all take a little time to pause and think about what we are thankful for and show gratitude to our Heavenly Father.

What I could...or actually SHOULD be doing but I'm not
Studying for the developmental psych test I have to take tomorrow.
(what happened to the idea of beginning to study a week beforehand?)
Researching Teen Pregnancy.
Making the powerpoint about teen pregnancy for my group project.
Tidying up the apartment for clean checks.
Finding a ride to IF so I can catch my ride home.
Doing my Religion Homework.
Readings and Questions for Family 100.
Going to bed before 12:30 and getting up at 6.
Organizing my Practicum Binder.
What I am doing instead...
Blogging...obviously.
Thinking about the fact that I will be home in less than 3 days.
Facebook and E-mail.
Salivating at the thought of Grandma Julie's AMAZING sugar rolls.
Checking my phone every 5 minutes to see if a certain someone has texted me.
Imagining hugging the boys when I get home...They'll act like they don't like it but inside they love it.
Contemplating a nap...
Planning what home cooked meals I want.
Making a list of all the things I have been wanting to tell my mom in person.
Talking myself into beginning my homework because I'm pretty much past the point of procrastination.
I LEAVE FOR HOME ON FRIDAY!!!! CAN YOU TELL I'M EXCITED?!

Happy Birthday Marisa!
Marisa's birthday was at the beginning of October but Kimberly and I promised to take her out for lunch. Yesterday, almost a month later, we finally found time that fit all our schedules to go have lunch together. Marisa chose Craigo's. We went for lunch and had the buffet. It was so good! I don't think I've ever eaten that much pizza!!! They have so many different kinds and then they have dessert pizzas. It was AMAZING!Look at the deliciousness!

Weekend with Mom
This semester has been crazy and stressful but I forgot about all that this weekend because Mom was HERE!!!! She drove down Thursday with some other mothers and was here till Saturday evening. This visit, some days, was the only thing that kept me functioning so I was pretty excited. We didn't have too much planned but to enjoy each other's company.
On Friday I got done with class at 11:15 and Mom met me on campus. I showed her preschool, the newly constructed MC(where we ate in the new cafeteria), and we visited the Bookstore. Friday night we went to a play, Tartuffe, on campus. We thoroughly enjoyed it!!! Saturday morning we slept in, I haven't slept in all semester. We ate pancakes with nutella for breakfast, went grocery shopping at Broulims, and then took a walk to the temple. I have a few pictures but my internet is being stupid and it won't load the pictures. Which is making me upset!!
But we had a FANTASTIC weekend. It was nice to have my mom here and to talk in person. I am so grateful for the relationship that we have. My mom is my best friend and I miss her every day! I'm grateful Dad and the boys were willing to let her come. Thanks!! And Mom, thanks for all you do for me! You're the best!!!!
(Hopefully the internet will work soon so I can post pictures!)

A Crazy Late Night

Conference Weekend
I absolutely LOVE General Conference! It is something that I always look forward to in April and October. This time I had tickets for Saturday morning so Kimberly and I drove down Friday night and stayed at Marisa's home. Her family is always so accomodating and welcoming whenever we come!
Saturday morning Kimberly and I drove to Sandy where we then took the Trax to Temple Square. It never ceases to amaze me how many Latter Day Saints gather at Temple Square for General Conference. It's like this huge mass of Mormons crowding the streets, I mean we're everywhere! If I were a non member and lived in SLC I would shut myself in my house conference weekend! And to think that that isn't even all of us! It really is a testimony builder, we all come together, from all over th world, to hear the God speak to us through his Prophets and Apostles. I love it when the Prohet enters the conference center. It becomes absolutely quiet and we all stand. I have an overwhelming assurance that he is the Prophet of God and that he leads and guides this Church. It is also amazing to see every right hand in the conference center raised to sustain the General Authorities.
Conference was great! I came away with added strength and the desire to become a better person. I loved all the talks but the ones that stood out to me the most were Elder Scott's and Elder Holland's. I am so grateful for the things the Spirit taught me this weekend and I am so grateful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!
Here are some fun pictures from my trip!
Sad Faces-the usual 45 minute drive from Salt Lake to Orem to 2 hours last Friday. Why? Hmm...maybe it was the BYU vs Utah State game, Mission Reunions, and Conference.
Saturday Morning SessionWaiting in the Stand By line for second session Saturday...Yes we got in!!!
So many people!!!
Making weird faces because we're bored on the Trax ride back...
While in Orem we had to go to Hello Yogurt! It is so good!! There are about 6 different flavors of frozen yogurt(I always get cheesecake!) And then there are a plethora of toppings from fruit to candy to cookies to syrups. You put whatever you want on it and then pay by the oz. It is DELICIOUS!!!Cheescake flavored frozen Yogurt with strawberries, kiwis, and pineapple!! YUM!

The Cookie Monster
No, I'm not talking about the blue furry monster on Sesame Street. I'm talking about the Cookie Monster from Craigos. Craigos is a pizza place in Rexburg that I had never actually been to till today. When Britton found out that neither Marisa nor I had ever had a Cookie Monster he promised to take us.
Today Britton took me, Marisa, and Kimberly to Craigos for a Cookie Monster. Here are Mar and KP just waiting...
Can I just take a moment to say how AMAZING Britton is? We joke that he's my big brother and I'm his little sister. Well he might as well be my big brother! Whenever I'm missing home I can always count on him for a BIG HUG!!!
Here it is! It's a chocolate chip cookie with TONS of yummy whip cream on top drizzled with chocolate and caramel.
Here are Mar and KP enjoying it! So good!!!!
