The Recent Princess Gossip

What's got the Princesses(Aurora, Cinderella, Ariel, Jasmine, Rapunzel, and Snow White) Talking? Well today the awaited invitation arrived for Prince Eric's annual summer ball. Princess Aurora(Kennedy) has received permission from her mother to attend. After opening her invitation Aurora picked up her princess cell phone and began calling the other Princesses to discuss the details.
What are all the Princesses saying? Prince Eric chooses one Princess to dance with all night long. This years picking? They are all sure it will be Belle because she is the prettiest.

Here are snippets of conversations that I(the nosy maid) overheard:
Aurora calling Cinderella: Hey Cindy? Have you been invited to the ball yet? How are the mice? Haha, oh micey micey. Have your pumpkins grown? Oh no! They don't grow very fast and there is only a week until the ball! I'm sure you can buy some at the store. It'll be okay.
Aurora calling Rapunzel:Hello is this Rapunzel? Oh yes, in the boring old tower. Have you got your invitation? You can't go? Your hair is too long and you don't know how to get out of the tower? I'll bring you a ladder and you can climb do
wn. Oh...the witch is ther with you? Sorry, bye.
Aurora's conversation with Eric after hearing that Snow White hadn't been invited:
A:Eric you didn't invite Snow White.
E: Because she isn't pretty
Well I guess Snow White won't be chosen as Prince Eric's dance partner. Sad day!

After mulitple calls to her fellow Princesses, and having to call Ariel a few times because she wasn't answering her phone, the decision that all the Princesses came to is that Belle will be chosen because she is the most beautiful and it is quite certain that Eric has chosen her. Aurora was quite determined to find this out and called the Prince herself! Needless to say Aurora is a little sadened and hopes that Eric will change his mind before the Ball. But as her loyal and comforting maid I told her that there are many other Princes and many more Balls to come!
Now you may think that I have made this up but I haven't! This is Kennedy playing Princess! Fun times!

What I Love About Being a Nanny that Makes Me Excited to be a Mom Someday

  • Picking the kids up from school. They climb into the car, I ask them how their day went, Adam responds with the same "okay" every time and Kennedy...well it's always different!
  • Snack Time. I ask Kennedy and Adam what their favorite part of the day was as I make the next day's lunches.
  • Listening and watching Kennedy play with her dolls or Princess. She says the craziest things that I just laugh so hard! Oh my gosh when she talks on her "cell phone"...you can tell that she listens to her Mom talk on the phone, the topics are so random and "motherish" She's a scream!
  • The mornings when Kennedy wakes up sleepy and curls up with me on the couch under a blanket and we snooze for a few minutes more. ( I remember doing this with my mom)
  • Now this one doesn't make me excited to be a mom but I enjoy it as a Nanny...Whenever I take Josh(11 yrs) to baseball, band, or a friend's he has me drop him off the farthest away possible. When my son/daughter does this I will be a little sad but as the Nanny I just have to smile at his embarrassment.
  • Swimming Lessons...They have 2 weeks sessions they attend and on the last day of the session the parents get to go in and watch and the kids demonstrate what they've learned. Then we get to swim with them.
  • Something I don't so much love...Monopoly.
  • Quiet Time. During the summer for an hour each day we have quiet time, Josh, Adam, and Kennedy go into their rooms to read, write, or do whatever and I, well...need I say more?
  • Whenever I drag Adam out of his quiet mode and we have a little conversation, it makes me happy :)
  • Story Time, I love reading aloud and Kennedy's a good listener
  • Making cup cakes and letting Kennedy lick the spoon.
I love being a Nanny! It is the best job ever and I am so blessed to be able to return to this job for the third summer in a row. I love my kids, they make me laugh although some days I'm glad I'm just the nanny and can leave at 5:30 when Mom and Dad get home. When I go to swimming and recitals or listen to the kids tell about their day at school I feel sad at how much Mom is missing. Although she is a good Mom, great even. When she gets home from work she spends time with her kids. And I've realized that I don't want to miss the little moments. Sure one can take work off to go to a baseball game or recital but one can't take work off to miss the little moments that happen throughout the day. I don't want to miss those with my kids. So I hope that I can stay home and I know there will be some days when I wish I was any where but home, but it's all good. I'm looking forward to the kids being out of school and this summer. It'll be a big adventure and another great learning experience!

So I've Kinda Fallen Behind...

I haven't blogged in forever! I don't know what it is about being home that makes me forget to blog. But I am going to strive from now on to keep my blog updated! It might be a little easier now that I've started working. Look forward to pictures of my kids, Josh, Adam, and Kennedy(most of them will be of Kennedy because the boys love to dodge the camera). Well, I have 3 events to write about...

The Funny Thing That Happened on the Way to Cleaning the Church Building
Okay, well maybe it wasn't funny...but mom and I and even Sam were laughing pretty hard at some points. On Monday for FHE our family cleaned the church building. We all headed to the cars and Sam was on the trampoline. When Sam makes it to the car I say "Como Estas?" And he grunts, "Hannah SHUT UP!" Mom gets in the car and asks if he's okay and he tells her the same thing. I can't tell if he is faking pain or what. Sam keeps saying he doesn't want to talk about it, the truth is he can't and we can see he's holding back tears. Finally we find out that while on the trampoline Sam had begun a backflip and decided midair not to and he landed flat on the trampoline hitting his shins on the edge of the tramp. OUCH! Dad, who is in the other car, had seen the accident but not knowing how bad it was said, "How'd you break your legs?" Sam in pain is actually kind of funny...he kept repeating what dad had said and Luke keeps telling Sam that he thinks he is faking the pain. Mom and I are laughing so hard and Sam laughs to keep from crying. Suddenly Sam says, "I'm bleeding...my sock was white and now it's red." We pull over and Sam pulls up his pant leg to
reveal this...
It is a puncture wound. Let us remember that Sam doesn't take the sight of blood well. We told him not to look at it but he had to hold a cloth to it to stop the blood. Once we arrived at the church we had him lie down on the ground...he was looking a litle pale.
He didn't faint and after a while was in the building helping us. At home we found a pencil by the trampoline and that was the only object that could've punctured him because the springs are covered. The irony is that not 10 minutes before Sam got on the tramp I was teasing him about having 4 pencils in his pant pocket. It reminds me of the movie While You Were Sleeping("We were playing basketball, I had a pencil in my pocket. I'm a lawyer I do that") If you haven't seen the movie, See it! it's one of my favorites. I put on some Enya(she's always a calming influence) and we cleaned up the wound. We are pretty sure that one of the pencils fell out of his pocket and when he landed punctured his shin. But he didn't need stitches and now he is fine. But we're still kinda laughing.

Luke's First Grade Concert
While Marisa was here we took Luke to his first grade concert. It was so fun and Luke is such a character! He'd been talking about it for weeks and planning his outfit. He decided to wear his suit jacket, I wanted him to wear his church suit too but he wouldn't. He was so animated throughout the whole thing. I died laughing and so were the parents around me.

In the first picture Luke is playing the saxophone...video soon to come!

Marisa's
Visit
Marisa left on Saturday. Here are some pictures from our week together.
Mar with Abish, Sam's gecko
Luke and Marisa became BFFs!

Well this is kind of a novel! I'll try to keep up so they won't be this long any more!
