The Cookie Monster

No, I'm not talking about the blue furry monster on Sesame Street. I'm talking about the Cookie Monster from Craigos. Craigos is a pizza place in Rexburg that I had never actually been to till today. When Britton found out that neither Marisa nor I had ever had a Cookie Monster he promised to take us.
Today Britton took me, Marisa, and Kimberly to Craigos for a Cookie Monster. Here are Mar and KP just waiting...
Can I just take a moment to say how AMAZING Britton is? We joke that he's my big brother and I'm his little sister. Well he might as well be my big brother! Whenever I'm missing home I can always count on him for a BIG HUG!!!
Here it is! It's a chocolate chip cookie with TONS of yummy whip cream on top drizzled with chocolate and caramel.

Here are Mar and KP enjoying it! So good!!!!

Well....it was DELICIOUS!

Service Project at the Sand Dunes

Yesterday our stake did a service project at the sand dunes. We were split up by ward and went through the dunes picking up garbage. It was actually really fun and we found more than just glass and broken clay pigeons.

From my apartment Marisa, Casidy, Britt, and I went. Some kids were sifters but we just took some garbage bags and began to scope the dunes for garbage. Do you want to know what we found? A TRUCK!!!
First a group of girls found it and our ward began to congregate till soon we were all helping to dig it out. It was actually just the bed of the truck but it was pretty amazing!!! We dug it out and then a ranger came and pulled it out. We won the prize for biggest piece of garbage! Not really, but we should have! :)Here are Britt, Casidy, and Britton on our way to the sand dunes.
The project was a lot of fun. It was a great few hours and we really got to know each other better.
Britt & Britt
Let me just say that it started to get really confusing! Both answer to Britt and it's hard to keep track of who is talking to who!

Here we are afterward in our shirts they gave us. But by the time we got back to the beginning where the stake provided lunch and the shirts all that were left were sizes 1X, and 2Xs! So our shirts are pretty big on us! More like night gowns!Silly Faces!!!!

New Moon Spoof...

Okay for those of you who know me you know that I used to love Twilight, kind of obsessively, until I read the fourth book and it completely ruined them for me...but I won't discuss that now. :)
I haven't seen the movie Twilight even when I was a fan I didn't really want to see it. But here is a spoof on the New Moon trailer that makes me laugh so hard! I don't know why but it just cracks me up. For those of you who Love Twilight I hope that you can still get a laugh out of this because...admit it...it's a little funny. Enjoy!

HEY DUFUR!!!!

3 years ago a friend, Emma Koenig, passed away and today on the anniversary of her death I've found myself thinking about how short and fragile life can be and how much I take for granted. I am in a couple family classes, one dedicated just to The Family: A Proclamation to the World, and I have had a lot of insights and reminders of how important the family is and that it is eternal. We sang "I have a family here on earth" and I thought of Emma's mom and how she cries everytime we sing that song. I think sometimes I take that wonderful gift for granted. FAMILES CAN BE TOGETHER FOREVER. I am eternally grateful for that knowledge, I don't know where I'd be today without it. I don't want to take my family or friends for granted especially when I think that one day will be mine or a family/friend's last and I don't want to leave anything undone or said. But I am grateful to know that I will see them again.
To my family I say I LOVE YOU! Thanks for putting up with me and loving me. And for making me laugh, even if it's at myself.
To my friends thanks for always being here and supporting me and being silly with me.
To Emma and fellow Dufurs...
HEY YOU DUFUR!!!

First Week of School

Monday: Moved into my Apartment, La Jolla 107! It's on the opposite side of my old apt, so everything is backwards! Had lunch with Mom and Dad and then they left and I got settled in. My big Bro, Britton, came over for a while. Marisa, Brittany, and I watched 17 Again.
Tuesday: Bought my textbooks(this year was the cheapest I've ever had to pay for books, under $200!) Took a trip to IF with Marisa and KP to buy groceries at Winco. That night Marisa, Brittany, and I cried our eyes out watching My Sister's Keeper.
Wednesday: Went up to Campus to print some things off at the library and just chilled with Mar and Brittany.
Thursday: First day of classes!!! Rel 215, Fundamentals of Scripture Study, I'm so pumped for. It is going to be fantastic! I love the religion teachers here at BYUI. I got a call from the Bro. Rane informing me that I'd been accepted last minute into the Child Development Practicum! After a little thought I decide to drop my Children's Lit class and Eng 311(that one was way to easy to drop:) and I am not officially doing my practicum this fall. For the practicum I will be working as a teacher in the Preschool Labs on campus Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
Friday: 4 classes-Family 100, Proclamation to the Worl(A class devoted to just that document!! How amazing is that?!) Psych 201, Developmental Psych, Family 220, Parenting, and my practicum planning class. I met with the professor over the practicum and he caught me up...just a little overwhelming...or maybe ALOT! But the nice thing is everyone is confused and overwhelmed, so at least I'm not the only one! :) So to detress and keep me from hyperventilating Marisa, Casidy(my new roommate), and I went to Taco Bell for dinner and then to the Snoasis or Snow Shack for some delicious ice cream! We got the Glaciers(ice cream on the bottom with shaved ice on top! I had Red Raspberry...YUMMY!) I am a junior, my 5th semester, in Rexburg and I've never had one!
Afterwards we went to a bonfire with some kids from our ward and some kids we didn't really know. We went to the dunes around 9, it was a blast, and another first for me. I'de never been to the dunes before! We had fun, Mar, Casidy, Kimberly, Britton, and I played would you rather, watched for falling stars, and had a bunch of laughs. I didn't take my camera but Kimberly did so hopefully she posts pictures soon!

All in all it was a pretty eventful week. I'm excited for this semester I think it's going to be great! I'm a little worried about the practicum, it's seems like a lot of work but I think that in a couple weeks I will finally get the swing of things and it'll all work out. But I do miss my family and I can't wait till Thanksgiving!

Take a Box of Tissues

So I am all settled into my apartment and getting to know my roommates. I will post pictures later.
But last night Marisa and I were at home while all our roommates, who are freshmen, were at the freshman activities invited our friend Brittany Ririe over. We all decided to go see a movie at the cheap theater. We decided to go see My Sister's Keeper. It is a great movie and SAD!!! Anyone who has seen the previews knows this so we took a couple little packages of tissues. We used one whole package wearing the tissues down till they were little shreds. I haven't cried so much in at a movie in a long time. The whole theater was sniffling. I mean I've teared up but last night I was crying. We cam home with puffy eyes and red faces. But although we cried it was a good movie that I would recommend. I really enjoyed it and it made me think how I would react if a family member of mine had cancer or some other sickness. It was interesting to see the family dynamics as the family in the movie struggled to cope. They all coped in diferent ways and had different reactions to everything. It also made me rethink the occupation I want to go into, which is a Child Life Specialist. They work with children in hospitals, helping them to cope with the emotional and mental issues of being sick.
I recommend seeing it but make sure you take a box of tissues!

Today I head back to school, mom and dad are driving me. We are making a little roadtrip of it; stopping in Hermiston to see the Jorgensen's and Mom and Dad will go with Benjamin to the Temple. Then we'll stop in Twin Falls and on to Rexburg Sunday night. I can move into my apartment Monday morning.
This summer has been so great! I have been so blessed to have a fantastic job that I love! I was able to spend so much time with my family and just relax and not worry about classes or roommate drama. But I am ready to head back and see friends. I'm hoping for a great semester.
