The Temple: My Refuge
One of the greatest blessings of Rexburg, Idaho is the Temple on the hill. It is so beautiful inside and out. My roommates and I, whenever coming back from Idaho Falls, see who can be the first to spot the Temple. We can always see it from the freeway especially at night when it's all lit up. The Temple has become so important to me these past two semesters. I have gone every week except for the 2 weeks it was closed for cleaning. And every time I've been the Temple has been full. I usually go on Thursdays because Saturdays are often a 3 hour or more wait. I don't mind the waiting though. It is so nice to just sit in the chapel, read my scriptures, and ponder. I think I've taken the Temple for granted most of my life and I'm so grateful everyday that the Temple is only a 30 minute walk away.
Today the Temple was my refuge not only from worldly troubles but the Rexburg weather. I had class in the Ricks building which is only a 5 or so minute walk from the Temple. Usually the walk isn't so bad and when I left the apartment this morning at 9 the sun was hiding behind the clouds and although it was a little windy it really wasn't so bad. When I got out of class at 11:15 the wind had picked up and it had begun to snow. It was like a small blizzard. I began my trek toward the Temple as the wind blew against me and the snow pelted me in the face making it almost impossible to see. I trudged along pulling my skirt down and so glad I'd worn leggings today. My only thought was to get to the warm Temple and inside away from the wind and snow. When I finally arrived at the Temple doors the whole right side of my body was covered in snow, my hair was wet, and my fingers were frozen. An elderly Temple worker held the door open for me and welcomed me in. Two sisters handed me my baptismal clothes and I was so happy to change into something warm. As I sat in the chapel warm and safe I thought of how the Temple truly is a refuge, a place to leave the cares of the world behind. There are so many worldly possessions, trials, and feelings that disappear when one enters the Temple. The snow, the wind, and the cold of Rexburg can be likened to these. The snow and wind of the world beats at us and sometimes it feels as if you'll never be able to get out but the Temple allows us to do so. It brings calm and peace and you leave with added strength to endure. That is what was confirmed to me at the Temple today. The elderly workers are so sweet the sister who handed me my towel gave me a little hug and I felt her love and I was strengthened. I may go there to help those who have passed on but in the end I feel as if I am the one who was helped the most. And I didn't have to walk home, although it had stopped snowing the wind was still going. A girl arrived to do baptisms but the chapel was so full they weren't letting any more people in, so she gave me a ride home. I love the Temple and am so grateful for the opportunity I have to go once a week and be edified and taught by the spirit.

Kick boxing, humongous pancakes, a little homework, dinner as an apartment, and Battle of the Dance
Yesterday morning started out like any other Saturday. I went to a kick boxing class, it was lots of fun but I messed up my knee. Then for lunch our friend Briton came over and made us pankcakes...BIG pancakes! They were so good, we had plain and blueberry pancakes with jam, syrup, peanut butter, and cool whip whatever topping we felt inclined to use. YUMMY!
Here is the stack of pancakes...yes we ate all of them.
I attempted to do homework, but it didn't really work. I can't seem to focus on Saturdays and it was absolutely beautiful outside! It looks like Spring has arrived but Rexburg winters love to tease me so I'm sure now that most of the snow is melted it will snow again. Sigh...We decided all of us would go to dinner together. We went to this place called G's Dairy, it is half store half restaurant. We got the $5 special which included, soup, role, drink, and ice-cream. The soup was soo good and the ice-cream was amazing. They had chocolate peanut butter cup so of course I had that kind. Anything with peanut butter and chocolate calls my name!
We went to Battle of the Dance and it was amazing! I was a little wary because last semester's wasn't very good. But this semester it was way better. We had a lot of fun. We were supporting our friend Michael's crush. She had two dances so we cheered and voted for her. :)

Bosom Friends
This weekend my roommates and I decided to flee Rexburg (Who wants to spend Valentine's Day in couple central?). Marisa is from Orem so Kimberly, Janelle, and I went home with her. Elise planned to go with us but Will(her missionary) came home and she decided to spend the weekend with him...we missed her but are super excited for her!!! The freshman will get married before the rest of us. ;) Well, our weekend was FABULOUS!!! We got arrived in Orem around 8 PM and Janelle, KP, and I went on a blind date set up for us by my sister of a different mister Jessie. We made sugar cookies and played Wacky Six! It was a blast! We returned to Marisa's around 12:30 and Holly our roommate from last year was waiting for us. She spent the night with us.
Valentine's Day dawned foggy and snowy! We'd planned on showing KP around BYU since she'd never been, but walking was definately out of the picture. So we gave her a short tour in Marisa's car and visited the BYU Bookstore. Marisa's parents treated us to lunch at Red Robins...yum! I wish there was one in Rexburg! After lunch we decided to hit Provo Mall and do some shopping. We hit some pretty good sales so I was in heaven!!! I didn't buy anything that cost more than $10 so I didn't feel too bad spending money. When we were done at the mall there was still one more store we needed to go to...my FAVORITE and weakness....OLD NAVY! I go crazy in Old Navy especially if there is a clearence. I bought a shirt for $1.99. Mission Accomplished! After shopping Marisa took us to an amazing ice cream place called Hello Yogurt. Anyone who lives near Orem GO THERE! There are 6 different flavors and a million toppings. What you do is pick a bowl size and then fill it with whatever flavor/s you want and then choose any toppings you want. They then weigh it and you pay 38 cents an ounce. I chose cheesecake and topped it with kiwis and strawberries. DELICIOUS!!!!!
Valentine's Night Marisa, KP, and I ate a yummy dinner prepared by Marisa's mom, had a dance party in the kitchen, and watched Anne of Green Gables. I haven't watched that movie in ages but I totally fell in love with it again. We laughed all night long! It was amazing and we are now all bosom friends, kindred spirits, and have decided that someday our Gilbert Blithes will come (I'm Sawry, Anne...sigh). So all in all my Valentine's Day was pretty good!
On Sunday KP and I went to church with Jessie. I had a hard time concentrating during sacrament meeting because it was held in a dance studio with mirrors on two walls(I get very distracted always looking at myself in the mirror) When we returned Marisa's mom had made us a wonderful dinner of roast, potatoes, carrots, fruit salad, and rolls. Then KP, Janelle, and I watched Anne of Avonlea...
Today on our way home we stopped in Draper and attended the Draper Temple Open House. It is absolutely beautiful! Of course all Temples are beautiful but it is always fun to be able to go through them, especially when I'm restricted to the Baptismal font usually. That was a nice little treat.
So the weekend was GREAT, full of fun, bosom friends, and yummy home cooked food. I ate so much, it's time to hit the gym! Here are some pictures from our adventures...
Me and KP, we are truly kindred spirits that we can read each others minds! :) the middle picture is of us in our new workout clothes!

"The Person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid"
I absolutely LOVE reading. I could just sit and read all day. And I don't mean to offend those of you who don't enjoy reading by calling you stupid but I do agree with Henry Tilney in Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey. This week I have accomplished a task in reading that I never thought I would do and I hyperventilated whenever I thought I just might have to do it. Yesterday afternoon I finished a novel written in Spanish...El Camino(which means "The Path"). Did I enjoy it...yes, did I gain a new perspective...yes, did I laugh...yes, did I fall in love with the characters...yes, did I really understand what was happening half the time...no. Coming into this semester the only class I worried about was my Spanish Literature class and guess which class is now my favorite? Yep, Spanish Lit! El Camino was a difficult read but I really enjoyed it. I wish that I had understood more because I think that there was a lot that I missed. In the beginning I hardly understood anything and a lot of explain went on during class. My teacher would read a line to us, chuckle and then look to us to see if we'd enjoyed it just as much as he did but the blank looks on our faces told him otherwise. But the last few chapters I understood better...Yo ENTIENDO!!! YAY!!!! I've come to the conclusion that no matter what language the novel is written in, one can learn something, even if she doesn't know what is happening. I gained a new perspective on life, which is why I love literature. A good author has to know what makes people tick and the life experiences that shape individuals. For me literature teaches us something new about ourselves each time we read it. And I love Spanish Literature and English Literature, which anyone who knows me already knows that.
Anyways, I will get off my literature tangent to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAM!!!!! My brother is 17 years old today and that is super weird!!! Every time I go home he looks different. I'll never forget the day I called home and he answered the phone and I couldn't figure out who the man was at my house. :) Sam es un hombre...haha, but not really, he won't be a man till he comes home from his mission. Sam and I were close when we were little but when I reached teenage years we really fell apart. But now I think we are friends again (but he won't admit that to anyone, he tries to pretend that he doesn't love me, but he does). Here are some of my favorite pictures of me and Sam.
Yes, it looks like he has a mullet, business in the front party in the back!

If I Have to Read Another Chapter from a Text Book I'll Go Insane!
My Saturday has been pretty chill and I don't expect it to get too exciting. I've got a ton of homework so I have been diligently working hard. Okay maybe not diligently, I can only read for so long. Most of my homework is reading; chapter 7 of my Adolescence textbook, chapter 6 of early childhood, 2 chapters of El Camino, and D&C Reading(which I think I'll save for Sunday). Now that may not look like a lot, but textbook chapters are usually 40 pages and BORING. I'm tempted to skip out on my early childhood reading because there is no reading check. Actually I'm pretty set on skipping it or skimming it before class, which I know is not congruent with the Learning Model, but oh well.
I haven't been reading all day. This morning I went to kick boxing on campus and it was super fun. I really enjoyed it. Except we did a push-up exercise and my arms are KILLING me. I never was good at push-ups and it's been a while. I love that the school has fitness programs and activities, it makes it so much easier to exercise. It's like being a member of a gym but it's free! Well I did pay tuition.
Anyways, next weekend is going to be awesome because my roommates and I are going home with Marisa to Orem. I will get to see Jessie who's at BYU Provo and our old roommate Holly! Now I've just got to survive this next week and I'll be good! Ooh, and the Mentalist is a new one this Tuesday, so I'm pretty pumped!

25 Random Things About Me!
I was tagged on Facebook to write 25 random things about myself. I thought I'd just post it on here too!
1- Horoscopes are AMAZING! I check my weekly horoscope every Sunday night, and now I've got my roommates doing it too! It's so fun, and weird how right they can be sometimes!
2- Pea coats are amazing!! I want to own one in almost every color. Currently I have a black and blue one.
3- Over Christmas break I spent a couple days with my Grandma(Farmor) going through old photos and listening to stories, it was great and I loved every minute of it! I just hope that someday my grandchildren will be interested in my life.
4- Airports scare the crap out of me. I begin hyperventilating the minute I walk inside one.
5- I secretly fear that I will end up 40, weird, and not married. Which is why I have so many back up plans.
6- No matter how many times I watch Little Women I always cry when Beth dies.
7- Since coming to college Sundays are the days I miss my family most. I miss us kids interrupting mom and dad's Sunday nap and cramming onto their bed.
8- I absolutely LOVE bargains and I once bought a pair of jeans at Old Navy for $3.95, it was SWEET!
9- I want to write a book so bad and I've already begun brain storming but please don't ask for details.
10- I was obsessed with the Twilight series until I read the fourth and it completely ruined it all for me. I haven't seen the movie or picked up one of the books since.
