So tonight I headed to the airport to fly home. I was super excited to be going home but slightly freaking out because airports just make me nervous!!! I am terrified of not getting to my gate on time, or not finding my gate(I know that's a little much), my flight being delayed or worse cancelled and I am stuck at the airport, and this year to add to my fears was the fear of the full body pat down.
Well, let me tell you about my exciting adventure at the airport tonight. Marisa dropped me off and I checked in my bag without a problem, there was hardly anyone there which makes things much easier and less stressful for me. Then I get to security. Everyone had assured me that if I went in the whole body scanner than I wouldn't have to go through the body pat down, which was terrifying me! So I made sure that my jewelry was off, nothing in my pockets, and no belt. I go through the scanner, the lady tells me all is well and I go to get my stuff. I am stopped by a big security man, I wait, the lady security comes up to me and informs me that I will need to have the full body pat down. REALLY??!!!! I am proud to say that while I was flipping out in my head I calmly and almost flippantly said, "Okay, no problem!" I was so calm...and the experience wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
I head to my gate and realize that my flight has been cancelled...CANCELLED! Oh my gosh I got the pat down for NOTHING! Okay, Hannah...you can handle this, you got it. Just stay calm and talk to the airport people. Don't cry. I'm good until I call Mom and hear her voice then I lose it. The only good thing about crying is that all the airport employees are super nice and call you "honey" or "sweetie"
So to make a long story short I got a new flight, for tomorrow unfortunately, retrieved my baggage, and my dear BEST friend Marisa came back to the airport and now I am at her house for another night. And tomorrow HOPEFULLY I will get to go home. That's all I want. To go HOME!
I am very proud of myself for surviving my 2 airport nightmares that came true. I conquered it, I still have to go back tomorrow and my flight better not be cancelled again, and as for security I've had one pat down I could probably handle another :)
